SheSharp's last event of the year, and our first in-person event post-COVID!
We partnered with Xero to give people an opportunity to have a much needed night out to end 2020 with a bang!
SheSharp and Xero hosted a Girl’s Night Out to bring together like-minded women interested in tech for a night of fun, interaction and challenges. As unprecedented this year has been, where most of us have interacted online via zoom calls or google hangouts, it’s time (and safe) for us to have an in person event. You don’t have to have a vast knowledge of tech or the tech sector to come along.
There were team challenges, fun quizzes and general fun and interactive awesomeness. So people brought their A-game along! This was a great event to network and reconnect with others we haven’t had the opportunity to meet in person over the last few months!
This event was open to all students (18+) and working professionals! Food and Drinks (No Alcohol) were provided!

Meet the Speakers
Monica Makau (Mumbi)
Security Risk & Compliance Specialist, Xero
Mumbi is the Security Risk & Compliance Specialist. She has been with the security team at Xero for almost 2 years. Before her career in security, Mumbi worked in the finance sector approving mortgages and home loans. She has a degree in Computer Science which was obtained at Kabarak University in Kenya - her motherland. Mumbi moved to Aotearoa NZ back in 2015 to study a Masters of Service-Oriented Computing at AUT. Since then, she’s developed a passion for security - and all things Kiwi!
Monique Warrington
Graduate, Xero
Monique joined the Xero team last Summer as a Summer of Tech intern. Due to the drama and complications Covid-19 has caused to her studies, Xero offered her a graduate role this year to join the team on a more full time basis! Having left school as soon as possible, Monique started her career working at a supermarket. It was while working here she met a friend who convinced her to give coding a go. Monique has also been involved with a number of not for profit and charitable organisations such as Voluntarily and Impact NPO.
Catherine Sun (Cat)
Product Insights Lead, Xero
Cat has been with the team at Xero for just over a year and a half. Already in that time she has been promoted from Data Analyst to her current role, Product Insights Lead. After leaving school, Cat went to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Auckland. During her studies she also interned in Australia at one of NZ and Australia's largest food manufacturers and Fisher and Paykel Healthcare. Before joining the Xero team she worked as a consultant at Deloitte in Technology Consulting. Cat also spent a year volunteering with the SPCA and their puppy run!
