October has been extraordinary for the She Sharp communityβa month that captured exactly what weβre about: positioning women at the forefront of technology in Aotearoa.
We kicked things off with Code Secure. Lead the Future: Women in Cybersecurity Workshop on 3 October. Partnering with Xero and Secure Code Warrior, we created something specialβa hands-on security learning experience where talented women tackled gamified challenges with confidence and skill. Watching this unfold filled me with pride.
SheSharp has proven, unequivocally, that the future of cybersecurity in New Zealand is vibrant and unstoppable.
Mid-October brought our presence at the Connecting the Dots webinar, where we continued championing diversity as essential to strengthening Aotearoaβs tech landscape.
The final weeks gave us critical global perspective. My return from SXSW Sydney reinforced something Iβve long believed: the future isnβt about choosing between human ingenuity and artificial intelligenceβitβs about composing them together.
This thinking shaped my contribution at the 6D AI Auckland 25 Conference on 21 October, where we examined the vital need for rigorous content validation to ensure AI accuracy and safety.
As I write this, Iβm in Hanoi with the ASEAN New Zealand Business Missionβtwo days of meaningful dialogue with Vietnamese leaders, including Vice Minister of Trade and Industry HE Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, on AI collaboration and digital transformation.
Ambassador Caroline Beresfordβs leadership has been instrumental in creating space for frank exchange. Tomorrow we head to Ho Chi Minh City to continue this work. Building international partnerships rooted in trust and shared values mattersβitβs how we amplify impact beyond borders.
As October closes, one thing is crystal clear: we must continue to champion human values, genuine relationships, and meaningful problem solving.
